What if everyone already agrees with you?
What if everyone already embraces an ethic of Zero Aggression?
There’s a concept that’s agreed upon almost universally. The version most Americans know is called the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have done to you.”
It’s Golden for a reason. It’s primary. It’s elevated. It sums up a lot.
People try to quibble with the wording, yet no one formulation is complete. But it turns out that all the largest religions in the world and several prominent philosophies have their own version of it. Together, they overlap and cover all the angles.
And any professed adherent to the long list of value systems we cover in this still short episode should be able to appreciate the Zero Aggression Principle…
Never aggress against another person to achieve a social goal, nor authorize another person to do that on your behalf.
After all, you wouldn’t want someone to aggress against you, right?
OR…
Episode 3 (June, 2022) of Gracearchy with Jim Babka was about the Golden Rule. In it, I told my personal Golden Rule story, which involved Ron Paul and Rene Girard. Bill and I also discussed how to steelman (as opposed to strawman).
Here in episode 69, we not only had new things to say about the Golden Rule, but also I presented something so original you’ve probably never heard it before…
Where do your rights come from? Once you know the answer to that question, you can see and understand the secret to making a successful social appeal!
We also cover Golden Rule applications like…
- The Second-level Steelman
- The Philosophy of Human Respect
And I answer the question, “Why do we veer away from the Golden Rule?”
EPISODE 69 is titled The Golden Rule Universality of Respect and Grace. You can also listen while you work or drive on these podcasting platforms: Pandora * iHeart * Google Podcasts * Spotify

Wow! This was really well done. Thank you for pointing out that faith traditions have the Golden Rule in common, Romans 2:26 also describes this: “Therefore if the uncircumcision (those outside the Jewish faith) keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for (being inside the faith) circumcision?” I post the daily prayer on Christianity.win, and will be linking here as part of the prayer. Thank you so much for this.
