Four things only libertarians can see about COVID-19

The media engages in a practice called Agenda Setting, and we can see it with COVID-19. By bombarding everyone with fear, they convince a sufficient number of people that only by violating the Zero Aggression Principle can we be secure.

Trading away essential liberty for little security is a loser’s bargain. Indeed, we libertarians have seen it before. Unlike everyone else, we recall the other times politicians promised protection, while they were actually aggrandizing power for themselves and sharing the loot with their cronies.

We cannot help but to hold to our principles and take unpopular stands. We know that the vindicating facts will come later.

In the case of COVID-19, there is a libertarian position. It requires nuance for you to understand it. Being so thoughtful seems to be a lost art in our bipolar political world. In other words…

While we voluntaryists are practicing empathy by sheltering-in and practicing physical distancing, there are…

Four things only libertarians can see about COVID-19

Advocates for Self-Government, home of the World’s Smallest Political Quiz, published this article. Disclosure: I serve as editor-at-large at the Advocates.

Downsize DC Foundation (home of the Zero Aggression Project) qualifies for the “stimulus” program called the Paycheck Protection Program. Non-profits can get Small Business Administration loans for 2.5 times their average monthly payroll. They can use it for payroll, rent, and utilities. The loan will be forgiven if they maintain payroll and staffing for two months.

In other words, taxpayers could be forced to pay for Zero Aggression. And that makes no sense to us. We won’t apply.

We have never accepted government funding (many non-profits do). It is wrong to compel someone to pay for anything – especially for organizations they don’t like. Not everyone likes us, but we hope you do. In fact…

Your contribution can actually reduce the funds politicians get to play with – your support can be tax-deductible if you itemize.

  1. Statists leave in a world of manufactured contradictions. This maintains conflict in ideas and situations. Conflict can always be mined for profit and power of the rulers and their friends

  2. You all are a principled group! That’s rare, and valued by us. Contrast this with some so-called non-profits, that are by no means even small businesses, who certainly will be chomping at the bit to get even more, and you know why you are loved by your fellow ZAP proponents.
