Tucker Carlson’s Third Party declaration was no surprise.
For months, several prominent people have suggested Tucker is running for president. He’s been sending escalating signals of GOP divorce.
Yet the media coverage of Tucker Carlson’s Third Party declaration has been poor. Alleged professional commentators don’t know much about minor party campaigns.
But I do.
Sure, these talking heads know that any third party effort, even one led by a celebrity, is not going to win. They don’t seem to know much beyond that.
For example, they don’t realize that Tucker faces a daunting challenge that only one third party has mastered. This expensive obstacle has crashed some pretty famous dudes who thought they’d run for president in a more “independent” fashion.
I’ll name names from the last two campaign cycles! But…
The easiest path for Tucker wouldn’t be to create a new party, but to join the one party that overcomes this barrier.
