Libertarian Chair Evan McMahon wants to smash a record

July 22, 2026

Libertarian Chair Evan McMahon is pledging to grow the party by nearly ten times its current size during his term, which ends in 2028.

How will he do it? Will it work?

And if so, will it matter?

It turns out that the LP is “punching above its weight” already. During this interview of Evan on Gracearchy with Jim Babka, we cover compelling arguments or examples including…

  • How the major parties are terrified of the LP
  • How the LP impacts policy
  • The thing the LP does that no one else seems able to do
  • How Libertarians are showing the popularity of their message

Of course, a political party should win some elections. And here’s the part where I, Jim Babka, get excited.

Finally, the LP is prioritizing the right strategy.

In fact, Evan has made a promise. He’s pledged to double the all-time membership and fundraising records – which are 27 and 26 years old, respectively.

As I’ve recounted elsewhere, seek first membership growth, and many other strategies and tactics will become available to you. It all starts with membership recruitment.

The Parity Project aims to equalize the reach and volume of the two major parties in a decade. Evan’s administration is the first term of that, during which he proclaims…

“I’ll double those membership and fundraising records.”

Sadly, those records are more than a quarter-century old because membership recruitment wasn’t the core strategy. So could the Party become potent in the drive to downsize DC and expand liberty?

Also, in this episode, Evan shares a “come home” message to people who’ve left the party or hung out on the sidelines.

But the most unique part of this interview – something you’re unlikely to hear anywhere else – is a concrete story about how Evan is bringing his own version of Grace to the Party.
