If Context matters for Charlie Kirk, why not for Jimmy Kimmel, too?

Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a partisan joke by Jimmy Kimmel sparked outrage. Suddenly, his show was paused – maybe even canceled.

But what if cancel culture isn’t a leftist monopoly anymore? What if the political right has become just as fragile and punitive?

In this episode of Gracearchy with Jim Babka, we analyze and steelman Kimmel’s joke while exploring the larger story about context, consequences, and our culture’s addiction to coercion.

You’ll hear a thoughtful defense of grace and an honest critique of Kirk and Kimmel. Not because it’s edgy, but because it’s principled.

If you believe ideas should be tested, not outlawed, and that truth is best reached through uncoerced dialogue, this episode delivers the nuance you’re craving.

P.S. This story is continuing to evolve. Since we recorded, social media partisans started arguing that Kimmel’s show was paused entirely because of voluntarily action by local broadcast station owners. Why are they doing this? Because, in their hearts they know that a threat, like the one issued by the FCC Chair, is hypocritical and wrong.
